A Detailed Guide To Shadows

:bulletred: Physical Appearance :bulletred:

There are three kinds of shadows. Please note that these terms may change in the future, but for now we will call them as:
:iconmmshadowchibiplz: "Shadow Blobs/Puddles" - These are small Shadows, a black mass with glowing red eyes and small arms.

These shapes can make themselves as flat as the wall or floor and crawl against the surface, similar to black pools or puddles. When stepped on, they attack by outstretching their arms to their victim and consume them.

In such a state, they cannot be damaged by physical means. These "shadow blobs" can merge into a bigger shadow. This is the true, and premature form of a Shadow.

:iconmmshadowchibiplz: "Silhouettes" - These are the Shadows which had already attacked a human. They take on their form perfectly, to the last detail. Though they are also black, have red glowing eyes which bleed red liquid (it is yet undetermined whether or not it is blood or some otherworldly fluid).

Like "Shadow Blobs", they can merge with other Shadows into a much bigger form.

:iconmmshadowchibiplz: "Merged Shadows" - "Shadow Blobs" or "Silhouettes" can merge together into a bigger, stronger Shadow.

In the case of Silhouettes merging, the Shadow will possess many faces, and its form will be heavily distorted.

Shadow Blobs have a higher likelihood of merging together as compared to Silhouettes.

Merged Shadows do not return as a "Shadow Blob" or "Silhouette" once merged.

Shadows gather strength by merging. More powerful Shadows or Silhouettes that have merged take on more complicated appearances, such as abstract forms of regret, doubt, hopes, and fears.

:bulletred: Overview on Shadow Behavior :bulletred:
:bulletblack: Shadows only appear at Nightfall. Nightfall is a time period in a day, from 6 PM to 12:59 AM, where the supernatural phenomena in the city of Kirimori is at its peak.

:bulletblack: Shadows only attack human beings. They cannot attack animals, but animals may be able to sense them. They can sense a person's state of mind, and the potential they possess. Weaker minds become easier prey.

:bulletblack: Shadows are generally quiet, but when enraged, they create growling or grumbling noises.

:bulletblack: Alone, they silently wait for their victims. In large groups, they show no mercy. In such cases, there is always the 'Alpha Shadow'. Once the 'Alpha Shadow' is annihilated, the Shadows will retreat or disappear.

:bulletred: How A Shadow Attacks A Human Being :bulletred:
Only Shadow Blobs and Merged Shadow Blobs attack humans.

They can stretch the black mass of their bodies at will up to the height and width of their victim, and consume them. They adapt their black mass against the form of their victim, and once the process is complete, they pull themselves away from the shell of their victims, and wander the world in their form.

Depending on the strength of the Shadow, the effects may vary, from apathy, amnesia, to comatose.

Silhouettes are Shadows which have already claimed a human form. They are less likely to consume humans, but once there are many silhouettes in the area, they may merge together as one.

:bulletred: Skills and Abilities :bulletred:
:bulletblack: Shadow skills and abilities can only affect the bodies of Persona-users and their Persona. Their attacks such as "Agi" or "Bufu" will not either burn or freeze its surroundings. The same concept applies for Persona-users and the skills of the Persona they carry. Their attacks cannot affect the environment, or NPCs.

:bulletblack: Shadow Blobs possess physical and magical skills which inflict a lower damage, as compared to Merged Shadows and Silhouettes. Silhouettes may have a certain elemental affinity. Stronger Silhouettes will develop their own Arcana.

:bulletblack: The only damage a Shadow can inflict on a non-Persona-user is Reverse Morphosis Disorder (RMD).

:bulletred: Shadow Ranks :bulletred:
Like Persona-users, Shadows have a hierarchy of rank depending on their strength.

These ranks will range from Rank 1 to Rank 10.

    Shadow Blob/Puddle = Rank 1 only
    Silhouette/Merged Shadow = Rank 2 and above

There is also a rumored Rank S for the Shadows, but to be able to reach this rank, a Shadow requires a great amount of time to develop and gather such a strength.

:bulletred: Other Information :bulletred:
:bulletblack: The group does not incorporate any particular Shadow design from any of the games. It is either the Shadow Blob or the Silhouette. This is to provide an easier way of drawing them.

:bulletblack: Shadows are very likely to prey on Student NPCs and other NPC characters, as they have no Persona.

:bulletblack: Shadows are the direct opposite of Persona. They are meant to counter each other only.
